Historia del Club:

La Historia de River Plate comenzó cuando trabajadores de la carbonería “Wilson” tenían toda la intención de fundar un club de fútbol, fue así que a iniciativa de estos y la fusión con el equipo del barrio “Los Rosales” fundaron el club. Existieron varias deliberaciones para el nombre de la flamante institución. 

Llegaron al actual a consecuencia que un socio (Martínez) vio bajar cajas a marineros cuando se construía el dique 3, y en las mismas figuraba la frase “The River Plate”. 

A partir de ahí se firmo el acta fundacional y como así también designaron al primer presidente, Lepoldo Bard. 

El primer partido fue contra el equipo de Maldonado (un club del barrio Palermo), no se conoce el resultado pero se sabe que el triunfador fue el equipo de River Plate. 

El 27 de diciembre de 1908, tras disputar nuevamente el partido de desempate por el ascenso frente a Racing (y golearlo 7 a 0), logró subir a la división de privilegio. 

Los apodos en la Historia de River Plate 

El equipo de River Plate es conocido además de por su nombre, por varios apodos que lo han caracterizado a lo largo de sus más de 100 años de vida. 

La camiseta de River Plate cuenta en la misma con una banda roja atravesando la blusa blanca, es por esto que también se le conoce como el equipo de “La Banda Roja”. 

Cuenta la historia que a consecuencia de haberse organizado un carnaval, un carro alegórico que desfilaba por el mismo colgaba en su parte trasera una cinta roja de seda, esta fue robada por los chicos que la vieron y la utilizaron para adornar sus camisetas blancas prendiéndolas con alfileres. 

También se les dice “Los Millonarios”, fue en la década del 30 a razón de abonar inmensas sumas de dinero para incorporar a los jugadores Carlos Peucelle y Bernabé Ferreira, revolucionando el mercado. 

El mote de “Gallinas” fue a consecuencias de la mayor sequía de títulos que la institución vivió a lo largo de su historial, pasaron 18 años para que lograran nuevamente un campeonato local. 

Luego de revertir este momento adverso, los propios simpatizantes lo utilizaron como referencia de “pujanza, rebeldía y espíritu de lucha” por parte de sus jugadores. 

A pesar de que los enfrentamientos entre los cinco grandes del fútbol argentino (River Plate, Boca Junior, San Lorenz, Racing e Independiente) se consideran clásicos, es sin duda el enfrentamiento ante Boca Juniors el mayor de todos, es catalogado como “Super Clásico”. 

El primer triunfo “millonario” ante su eterno rival profesionalmente fue en la última fecha del torneo del año 1933 y la victoria fue por 3 a 1, además del aliciente de haber ganando el clásico, se sumo el hecho que impidió que Boca Juniors se consagrara campeón argentino.

History of the Club:
